We
start with rough granite blocks shipped in from all over
the world
The
blocks are moved with large cranes

Operating
a coring machine
This
is a stone splitter

The
blocks are sawed into various sizes with a 10' diamond
saw.
The
saw uses diamonds for cutting; diamonds are used frequently
during the process of cutting and polishing.
The
slabs are then loaded into the polishing machine, where
they are polished on one or two sides.
After
polishing, they are taken to the cutting area where the
slabs are cut to rough size.
At
this point the stone is either pitched to size by stone
cutters using hand tools...

are
sawed for margins and cutouts by a smaller diamond saw...
or
go off to be polished by hand.
If
the stone is not by be shipped blank, it goes to our sandblasting
and layout department.
The
names and dates are blasted in with high pressure air and
a mineral called Blastite.
When
complete, the stone is taken to the crating and shipping
area.
